About Luxilon

Founded in 1959 in Antwerp, Belgium, Luxilon Industries turned its fiber manufacturing expertise into making tennis string. The name Luxilon is the combination of the words “luxury” and “nylon”. Initially specializing in sewing thread, Luxilon advanced to tennis strings and released its first string in 1984.

This string was named "Orkit" and was made of Peek material. Experimentation then began with several proprietary compounds and blends that resulted in the 1984 introduction of Big Banger Original. Luxilon is best known for the development of these revolutionary Big Banger strings. Released in 1994, the trend-setting ALU Power 125 made a splash on the pro tour and is now the most used string on tour.

A dedication to strict quality control ensures that every set of string has been tested and approved before reaching a player’s racquet. In 1994 Luxilon obtained the prestigious ISO 9001 certificate. This achievement certifies that Luxilon follows the highest and most stringent standards for quality management systems in all facets of their operations.

Luxilon continues to develop proprietary strings and processing by allocating 20% of its workforce to research and development activities. At its state-of-the-art manufacturing facility, the most technologically advanced processes and materials are used to manufacture hi-tech fibers for many applications. These incredible fibers are used in the medical industry, aerospace industry, and of course, in tennis strings. The engineers at Luxilon continue to strive each day to develop and produce the best string in the world.
